… it was dark in this part of the forest with all the tree coverage. I was making my way towards a small pond when I noticed a little bird looking at me from a branch not too far away. Its little dash of yellow under its wing had caught my eye…

I did not know of the yellow-rumped warbler until I had photographed it for the first time in October 2022. Having said that, I am sure that I have seen one of these birds several times throughout my life before that. It is a common songbird in New Hampshire and can be seen during all seasons in the state.
