…I was a quarter of the way down when I saw a big bird passing over my head. Cloudless sky and this bird just appears out of nowhere…

Maybe it’s the fact that I did not see one in the wild for the longest time, coupled with it being the United State’s national bird, but for whatever the reasons, it is always exciting to me to see a bald eagle. Over the years, I have seen several of these large birds all across the country (I lost count in Montana), but rarely have I seen one in my area of New Hampshire. I was actually anticipating having to go up north in order to increase my chances when the time came. My surprise was complete when I saw one flying quite low over a field in southern NH.
It was gliding gently overhead and I fumbled with my camera to get a shot before its tail was to me. I had been expecting songbirds, not bald eagles! I was very happy that I was able to snap off a few shots before bird was out of range.
